Negative Calorie Diet
Critics have tried to downgrade
the Negative Calorie Diet, but the positive have always out weight the
negative. How could you go wrong by replace fatty foods with fruits and
vegetables. It just a matter of calculation. If you burn off 200
calories a day then you need to only eat 150 calories a day. You will
automatically lose 50 calories a day.
Consider these facts:
- A piece of dessert consisting of 400 calories may only require 150 calories to digest by our body, resulting in a net
gain of 250 calories which is added to our body fat !
- On the other hand, a 5 calorie piece of celery may require 150 calories to digest, but resulting in a
net loss of 145 calories from our body fat !! The more you eat, the more you lose weight!!!
While there are multiple versions of the negative calorie diet,
they all, for the most part, tell the dieter to eat and drink food
products that have a negative caloric effect.
A negative caloric effect" means that the number of calories your body
has to expend to chew, digest, metabolize and eliminate the food is more than it
gains from the food itself. A classic example of a negative calorie food would
be celery, which is made primarily of water and cellulose (fiber that your body
can't digest), and non-caloric vitamins and minerals. How
Does A Negative Calorie Diet Work?
A Negative Calorie diet
works on the premise that certain foods create negative calorie
effects (negative calorie foods), allowing you to lose weight. The
Negative Calorie diet is controversial because the theory is not
scientifically sound. No foods actually possess ‘negative calories’.
However, advocates of the Negative Calorie diet say that you can
literally eat your way to weight loss. A
negative calorie diet e-book has even been published on this
topic.
As you eat any type of food your body produces enzymes to break down
the calories contained in the food. As with the Negative Calorie
Diet, some are thought to believe that it actually produces more
enzymes than needed to break down the calories contained in the food
itself. So for every orange you eat, you should burn off 25
calories. This is why advocates of the Negative Calorie Diet
encourage you to eat frequent healthy meals, in doing so you are
actually increasing the speed of your metabolism.
With this said, you may be wondering what types of foods are in the
